ACUPUNCTURE AT CHARNWOOD DENTAL QUORN
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in China for almost 3,000 years.
It is based on the belief that energy (called “Qi”) flows around the body, in channels under the skin, promoting health and resisting disease. When we feel healthy, the flow of Qi runs smoothly. This allows the body to remain in balance, physically, emotionally and spiritually. If this energy becomes weak or blocked, it can lead to pain and ill-health. The flow of energy can be disturbed by many internal and external factors, such as infection, stress, anger, trauma, fear, grief and poor nutrition.
The role of an acupuncturist is to restore and maintain good health by freeing and
moving the Qi around the body
Treatment
The initial consultation will involve taking a detailed history to help diagnose any underlying conditions. This is achieved by careful questioning and may also include a physical examination, looking at the tongue and taking the pulse. The appropriate treatment will be chosen by the acupuncturist who will insert very fine sterile needles into the channels at selected points. This regulates the energy and allows the body to rebalance naturally.
Acupuncture is a very safe and effective form of treatment which considers the whole person individually, rather than just their illness or symptoms.
It is effective on its own or will complement Western Medicine as a treatment for
a wide variety of conditions.
